Cockrell and <br /> numerous others.~ <br /> <br /> The following letter was read, accompanied by a copy of the ~ecklen - <br />burg Declaration of Independence: <br /> <br /> ~It has been my pleasure to attend the Postal Supervisors Convention <br />recently held in Charlotte, N.C., February 20-24 inclusive, 19~6. <br /> While in Charlotte, I was honored with a special invitation to attend <br />a most elaborate celebration held in honor of the signing of the Mecklenburg Declaration of In- <br />dependence May 20,ty~5, and at the same time honoring George Washington, it being held on his <br />birthday anniversary. <br /> Special prints of this famous declaration were made and given out as <br />souvenir~ commemorating this occasion. I was able ~o obtain several of these prints and I <br />deem it an honor to have the pleasure of presenting one of these prints ~o the Law Makers of <br />our City of Portsmouth, Virginia. <br /> Many worth,nile resolutions were adopted at our convention which, if <br />later become enacted into law will prove beneficial and improve the Postal Service generally. <br /> <br /> <br />
