That the plan of operation as submitted by the 0ity Manager <br /> be accspted. <br />2. That this arrangement continue for four months. <br />3- That any.deficit.be met equally by the-Nursery <br /> Board and the City. <br />~. That the continuation of the operation be under the <br /> Joint supervision of the Department of Public Wel- <br /> ~fare and th~ Nursery Board." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Warren to concur in the ~anager's recommendation was adopt- <br />ed. , <br /> <br /> The following letter was read: <br /> <br /> "Application is hereby made for th~ purpose of a bus passenger service <br />connecting the City of South Norfolk and the City of Portsmouth. It is proposed that the bus <br />line enter the City of Portsmouth at the junction of the Deep 0reek Road and Elm Ave. and the <br />highway that leads over the Norfolk & Portsmouth Toll Bridge. It is desired by the applicant <br />to travel easterly along the Gosport Road ~o Fourth Street; thence northerly along Fourth <br />to Wythe Street; thence easterly along Wythe Street to Crawford Street; thence northerly along <br />Crawford Street to High Street; thende ~esterly along High Street to Washington Street; thence <br />southerly along Washington Street to Seventh Street; thence southerly down Seventh Street to <br />Gosport Road; thence returuing westerly along Gosport Road to the point of beginning. It is <br />desired to pick up and discharge passengers at the following places: <br /> <br /> At the corner of Elm St. and Gosport Road; ad the corner of Green St. <br />~nd Gospor~ Road~ ~ad the corner of Seventh St. and Gosport Road; at the corner of Fourth St. <br />and Gosport Road; at the corner of Crawford and Wythe Streets;at the corner of Orawford and <br />High Streets; and at the corner of Washington and High Streets. It is not-the desire of the <br />undersigned to pick up or handle any passengers within the Oity~imits in Portsmouth. It is <br />only his desire to pick up those passengers that are going out of the City and to let off the <br />passengers that come in the City at the points designated. <br /> <br /> The applicant proposes an hourly schedule between the City of South <br />Norfolk and the Oily of Portsmouth. <br /> <br /> I trust that you will grant the undersigned the privilege of providing <br />a passenger service between the two cities as outlined. <br /> Sincerely, <br /> <br />Hill Bus Line <br /> <br />By F. Hill.~ <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Howard to refer ~o the Manager and the Transportation <br /> o <br />Oommittee, was adopted. <br /> <br /> The following ordinance, placed on its first reading at last meeting, <br />was taken up and read: <br /> <br />vote: <br /> <br />"AN.ORDINANCE IMPOSING-AND COLLECTING TAXES ON REAL ESTATE <br />TANGIBLE PERSONAL PROPERTY AND MACHINERY, WITHIN THE LIMITS <br />OF TH~ CITY OF PORTSMOUTH~ VIRGINIA, FOR THE PURPOSE OF <br />RAISING REVENUE FOB THE SUPPORT OF THE GOVERNMENT AND THE <br />PUBLIC FREE SCHOOLS AND TO PAY INTEREST AND SINKING FUND <br />ON THE PUBLIC DEBT FOR THE EAR BEGINNING JANUARY 1st, 1 9~6." <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Howard, said ordinance was adopted and by the following <br /> <br /> <br />
