The relieving report was ~eceived f~m the Zoning Board: "At a ~egula~meeting of the Planning Commission of the City of Ports- mouth, held on August 1st, 1948, there were present: C.0. BaPclay, A.S. Ha~groves, K.L. H~t, F.J. Bergeron smid A~thu~ S. Owens. Mr. Hs~ry Alexander and Mr. Clem Shader of Hartand Bartholomew and Associates, were also present. Under unfinished business, Rufus PowelI's request to. rezone property at lll2 County Street, was brought up. It ~was found that the Pt~uning Commission could take no action on this as he had his pe_.~mit to operate before the Cow~fssion wentinto effect. t - Application of Suburban Daves~ent Oompsny to r ozone from Residential tc Industrial, the p~operty at 22~6 Randolph St. On motion of Mr. Bergeron, it was approved, the vote being unanimous. Application Of Joseph Adams to rezone i~emHesidential to Industrial, the property at 2918 Queen Street, was denied. The Commission decided, however, that ?he Ci~y Collector be authorized to issue hima license since he had his business~set up before the Plazming Commission-~ecame ef- fective. Application c f J. H. Ivey to rezone from Residential to Commercial, the property a~1216-i8.20 Green St. On motion of N~. Bergeron, it was approved, the vote b eingunanimoms. Application of CharlesC. Bond to rezone f rom Residential to Commercial, two lots on the north ~side of Gosport Road at Cedar Street. On motio~u o,f l~r. Bergeron, it was approved and the vote was unanimous. Application of W. B. Ha~per to rezone from ~esidentmal to Industrial, city lets 122 t~eugh 1~3 onthe east side of Hs~ilton Ave. and city lots 2~8 thro~gh 2~0 on west side of Hamilton Aven~e. 0ri. motion_of :~. Owens, it was approved, the vote being u~uimous$ Application of J.~. Savage to rezone f~om Residential to Commercial, propemty at 1800 South Street. 0n motion of Er. Host, it was approved, the vote being unanimous. Application of Robert F. Mc~orter to rezone f rc~ Residential to Com- mercial, property a t "A" Street and Fort Lane, was denied. Mr. Alexander presented to the Commission the Street Planning reoort. He suggested that a cemmitteeofthree be appointed to study thi~re- port very carefully. Mr. Alexander advises that his comp~y's next report will be on transportation. The Chairman committee to study the report on stree~ pla~n~ing, 0n motion adjotu~aed. A. S. Holtzclam~ expected to be present at this meeting to submit a proposition on lighting, but t ' was de aznedo The privilege of the floor was granted a delegation from the Machinists, Union. Mr. Bro~',~ of said delegation stated that the Navy authorities were planning to send wort~en to this yard to work and were discha~ging work~n now here. Motion o.I~ M~. V~ilson to refer same te the committee c~ Yard employment to contact the Navy Department ~n ~ashington and Ser~tor By~d, to see i~f the matter can b e rem- edited, w~s adopted.
