<br /> crux of the meeting was that the Cbuneil would by resolution re
<br /> quest their representative of the Tunnel Commission to take a
<br /> finn stand and that the following tD~ee meco~uendations be ad -
<br /> hered to as near zs possible.
<br /> 1. Firm insistence that the p~oposed project be a direct
<br /> tua%uel con-uect~on between the two cities, and not a hop-skip-and
<br /> jump affair cs~lli~g for a t~uel to Ber~ey and then to Norfolk
<br /> via b~idge.
<br /> 2. That the project be a fou~-lane tunnel affording direct
<br /> connection between the cities and not a tu~o-iane tunnel as proposed
<br /> by certain officials of a neighboring city.
<br /> 5o Location of the entrance to the proposed tunnel should
<br /> be north of High Street; no ~urther west th~u Effingh~m c~ possibly
