<br />Naval Statlon Hospital, located on Hampton Boulevard, Norfolk,
<br />Va., which is presently operated by the United ~tates Navy aud
<br />is to b e abandoned, by ttem in the ~mmediate future, and
<br /> ~REAS, the Amer~cau Legion, other Veteran organizations and
<br />the City Cos~ueil have been cognizant For many yea~s of the ex-
<br />treme need for a Veterans Administration Hospital operated upon
<br />the Southern Shore of Hampton Roads; and
<br /> ~_t~RF_~S, such facility would serve the needs of veterans located
<br />on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, ~orfolk, Princess ~e and
<br />Norfolk Counties, Portsmouth, V~., and Suffolk, Va., and the no~th-
<br />eastern counties of ~orth Carolina,
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE ~ RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of
<br />Portsmouth strongly urges the Veterans Administration to ~cq~ui~e
<br />this facility f or i~ediate operation to ca~e for the Veterans in
