"The regular meeting of the Board of Supervisors of Norfolk <br />County was held in the Supervisors~ room at the ~lerk's office, <br />Tuesday, August 12th, 1947, at 10:00A.N., and the roller,lng <br />resolution was adopted. <br /> The Clerk read a letter from M~. Arthu~ S. Owens, City Manager, <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia, stating that the percentages and <br />figures pertaining to the cost of the Veterans~ Bureau in the <br />existing planer the budget were out of line with the actual <br />number of perspns who called at the center during, the first six <br />months of the year, and requested that the County make necessary <br />adjustments for the year to take ca~e~ of this matter. <br /> On motion, made by Mr. Haywood, seconded by M~. Treakle, the <br />Clerk was directed to w~ite the City Manager that the Board of <br />Supervisors does not wish to make any change i~ its original <br />agreement as said agreement had been made with two members of <br />the City Codicil of Portsmouth, and various members of the Boa~d <br />o£ Directors of the Con~mity Chest. <br /> All voting Yes. <br /> A Copy -Teste: E.T. ~hite, Clerk, <br /> <br />By: W. ~. The <br />conditions as they exist render South St. between Pine St. and <br />Prentis Ave. impassable dLt~ing heavy rains. Fne stores aud yards <br />in this vicinity are flooded and some damage has been caused." <br /> <br /> Motion o f Mr. Weisemanthat an appropriation of $1,992.00 for said <br />purpose be placed on its first reading, was adopted. <br /> <br /> 9th - "~ Wednesday, August 20th, we opened bids publicly, in the <br />Council Ch~nber, on the Pinners Point sewage treatment plant, which is in accordance with an <br />Act of the General Assembly and a vote of the people authorizing the construction of this <br />plant. <br /> The following 9idswere submitted: <br /> <br /> C.
