Barclay, <br /> <br />~nutes of regula~ meeting held August 12th were read and approved. <br /> <br />The following report f~om the Zoning Commission was received: <br /> <br /> "Pursuant to the provisions of the Zoning 0rdin~uce, notice is hereby <br />given that public hearing will be at 7:30 P.E., Tuesday, August 26th, I947, in the Council <br />Chamber, M~tuicipal Building, Portsmouth, Virginia, for the ~ltering zones and reclassifying <br />the following property: <br /> 1. On Gosport Road between Temple and Royal Streets, <br /> beginning 40 ft. west fr°m Temple St., thence 35~ x 807 f~om <br /> Residential 01ass D to Commercial Class A. <br /> 2. John T~ner thanked the Co~cil for their effort in keeping the <br />two trains from Portsmouth to Wilmington r~tuning on t he A.C.L. Railway~ <br /> <br />The following comm~uuicatior~ from the City Manager were read~ <br /> <br /> 1st - "Effective August 31st, 1947, I am denoting Chief 0. BjD~im <br />to the position o f Captain in the Police Department. <br /> Effective September 1st, 1~47, I ~n appointing Capt~n of <br />Police 0. B. Dunn to the position o f Chief of Police." <br /> <br />On motion ordered filed. <br /> <br /> 2nd - "I would appreciate y~u appointing two or three members of the <br />Cou~cil'to work with me toward an important development For the City. <br /> It would be further appreciated if the members of this commit- <br />tee could be available ~ednesday August 2Vth, 1947~ for a conference.~ <br /> <br />Motion to concur in the ~a~ager~s recommendation, was adopted. <br /> <br />committee. <br /> <br />The Ghazr~___~ appointed Me~s~s. Fox, has suggested that i w~ite <br />you with reference to securing your assistance on a very touchy problem we have here <br />and hoping~ou could send Mr. Frederick down to look into this specific case. <br /> ~e have a water reservoir and treatment plant at the co~ner of South <br />and Godwin Sis.
