<br />given that public hearing will be at 7:30 P.E., Tuesday, August 26th, I947, in the Council
<br />Chamber, M~tuicipal Building, Portsmouth, Virginia, for the ~ltering zones and reclassifying
<br />the following property:

<br />two trains from Portsmouth to Wilmington r~tuning on t he A.C.L. Railway~
<br />

<br /> 1st - "Effective August 31st, 1947, I am denoting Chief 0. BjD~im
<br />to the position o f Captain in the Police Department.
<br /> Effective September 1st, 1~47, I ~n appointing Capt~n of
<br />Police 0. B. Dunn to the position o f Chief of Police."

<br />On motion ordered filed.

<br />you with reference to securing your assistance on a very touchy problem we have here
<br />and hoping~ou could send Mr. Frederick down to look into this specific case.
<br /> ~e have a water reservoir and treatment plant at the co~ner of South
<br />and Godwin Sis. Directly across about lB8 or 150 feet, there are now located some
<br />gas tanks, the capacity of which the Standard Oil Company would like to increase.
<br /> The Council feels that this would be a~distinct ~2zard to o~t~ invest-
<br />ment; therefore we felt that~expert knowledge would be appreciated ina idingns.
