Center located ~u South Street in this <br />City."- <br /> <br />The following communications from the City Manager were read: <br /> <br /> 1st - ~The attached letter ~as been received from Charles B. Cross, <br />Chairman, Horse Show Committee of the Juni~ Chamber of Commerce, requesting the use of the <br />stadium on October 25th, for a show. <br /> In thei~ second paragraph, they are offering to p~v as rental of <br />the stadiu~ ten per cent of their gross gate receipts, in return for which they ask that we <br />provide the necessary temporary facilities for the ~tabling of horses, in accordance with a <br />plan des~tbed to me on the morning of September 19th at the stadium. <br /> In the stadiumo rdinance, circuses, carnivals, or like a flairs <br />a~e prohibited and for clarification purposes, I mould like your authority to permit this <br />horse show under the following conditions: <br /> ~l) That the City receive ten per cent of the gross receipts <br /> from the gate. <br /> (2) That we receive ten percent of any and all reqeipts from <br /> concessions. <br /> (3) That the ~anager'be authorized to provide temporary <br /> s~abling <br /> not to exce~d°~ $1,000.00, provided the money can b~ tranefe~- <br /> red from o thor accounts, without additional appropriati6n, <br /> for which authority must be granted now." <br /> <br /> Attached <br /> "t~'-accordance with your conversation this mor~i~gwith Mr. Hell S~ell- <br />ings and myself, lam .writing this letter ~ud requesting the use of the Portsmouth Stadium for <br />the afternoon ~nd evenzng of October 28th, 1947, for the purpose of staging an horse show <br />sponsored by the Junior Chamber of Commerce of this City.
