Mr. Howard stated that serious considerationis now being given to the <br />SchooI Board' s request. <br /> <br /> The f ollewing letter was.read and referred to the City Attorney: <br /> <br /> "~here was reported as paidon our Criminal Judgment Docket of Jsnuary <br />15th, 19~7; fine and costs in amount of ~103.50, ~aich was paid by Mr. E.L. Hudson account of <br />his son,Elmer Hudson, who was cha~ged with alleged offense of '~lnauthorized use of automobile~. <br /> The Court upon hea~ing further evidence ordered the case against Hudson <br />reopened as of Fev~uary 12, 1947, dismissing the said Elmer Hudson of the offense with which <br />he w as charged. <br /> I am therefore of the opinion that the sum of $103.50 shouldb e remitted <br />to ~Lr.E.L. Hudson and.would appreciate your consideration o f the matter. <br /> <br />Respectfully yours, <br /> ~. E.Warren, H.Earl ~eiseman, Pea~le J. ~ilson and R.C. <br />Barclay, City Attorney. <br /> <br />The call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> ~You are requested to attend a called.meeting of the Ci%y ounc~l, <br />in the Council Chamber, at V:30 on Friday evening, October ~dth, to consider the resignation <br />of the City Manager. <br /> By Order of the President.~ <br /> <br />The resignation o f the City Mar~ger was read: <br /> <br /> "Due to my election as City A~anager of Roanoke, Va., e f~ective J~u <br />ary 1st, 1948, I am tendering my resignation as City Manager of Portsmouth, effective the lat- <br />ter part of December, 194~. <br /> It i_s my intention to complete the budget, pre, are all s~exation <br />needs and in turn, assist and planine very way possible for the ye~ 1948. it has indeed been <br />a pleasure to work under your capable leadership. You and the members of the Council have been <br />most kind, considerate and co-operative, and I extend my heart-felt appreciation and grateful- <br />ness. <br /> With ~est wishes, I am, <br /> Cot di~lly yours, <br /> <br />Motion o f Mr. Weiseman <br /> <br /> Arthur S.
