<br />City, earnestly protest the action of the City in proposing the closing of any portion of the
<br />~estern B~anch Road from High ~t., southwardly t o County St., f or the following reasons, viz:
<br /> (1) That said ~estern Branch Road i~ extensively used now by the public as a m~t con -
<br />venient short and safe thorofare for downto~ and uptown traffic.
<br /> (~) The City Plauning and Zoning Commissioners have reco~ended inferentially the con
<br />tinuation of the present conditions at the ~unction of Hi~ St., ~estern~Branch Road and ~c
<br />Arthur Avenue. They have recor~ended the widening of ~estern Branch Roa~.
<br /> (Z) Some of the undersigned are owners of property at or very near the inversection o f
<br />that portion of the ~estern Branch Road that is proposed to b e closed, and we firmly believe
<br />that our properties, and our businesses willbe greatly and irreparably damaged by the said
<br />closing or abandonment of ~Yestern Branch Road and the~ values of our properties will be tre
<br />mendously depreciated through the loss of traffic.

<br />1800, 1700 and 1800 blocks of High and County ~ts., do hereby request that the City open
<br />K~ng Street from Second Avenue ~to Fourth, as these two blocks a re the only two that are not
<br />now in use from Water St. to Sixth Ave., and there is a number of citizens who own property
<br />fronting on King St., would build on these lots and the revenue from these improvements
<br />would justify the expenditure. It would also make our neighborhood more desirable to live
<br />in, as this marsh is a breed&rig ground for mosquitoes, Flies, frogs, rates, snakes amd crime.
<br /> Some of us were living iu the l?00 .and 1800 blocks of Co~_uty St.,
<br />when the City annexed this section back in 190~ - forty years ago and we were promised this
<br />improvement then. How much lerner do we have tovait? ~e b~ve a beautiful high school
<br />nasium and stadium all within a block of this marsh.
