it is rather discouraging to see public service funds eaten away ~ ~.~ and particularly so when i £ind that we _have fallen several thousand dollars in thzs short of o;mr goal for our 1948-1949 opera.zone. I am wondering if there is any posszbzlzt~ of reducirg tt~e rental charges or, posszol~" v, eliminating them, since this organization spends none of its funds for anything but t~he public good. All our Chapter exeeztiv~s are vcl~nteer workers., all of our money is spent on ou~ clients, Last summer we established i n this city a Physical therapy clinic which will eventually be worth fifteen thousa~ud dollars to Portsmouth, and of limitless service to many sufferers, not just infantile paralysis pa~ents alone, i~aturally, w e can not achieve our goal in this venture if our funds are cut to the point where no surplus exists for the purchase~ of equipment necessary to the activity of this clinic. Fifty dollars is a ..... ~ty dollar moments~' have arrived With alarming small amoun~ it ms true, bu~ z~ seems that ~ ~ frequency d~c~cing this year's campaign, madding our net total raised low enough to require re - pl~a~ning o£ investment in clinic e~ipment. I have, of co'o-tee, arranged for payment of this rental charge~ amd it will be in the hands of the City Collector today, However,~ I would appreciate anything you may be able to do for us in this -matter.
