Duke, George L. Grimes, Arthur P. Henderson, <br />Carl C. Houghton, Jr., Jar~es N.Howard, Eo Robie Sturtevant. H. E~l <br />~eiseman~ Pea~le J. Wilson~ C. E. ~a~ren, W. Guy Ancell, City <br />get and R. C. Barclay, City Attorney. <br /> <br />~oved. <br /> <br />~inutes of regular meeting held April 2Vth, 1948, were read and ap - <br /> <br />The Committee on Western Branch Road made the following report: <br /> <br />the p'~pos e <br /> <br /> ~In accordance with your instructions, the cormnittse appointed for <br />of studying Western Branch Road begs to report: <br /> I Having found Western Branch Road a desirable and much <br /> used artery for the swift and orderly mo~en~ent of traf- <br /> fic your committee recon~aends that the Cotuucil reaffirm <br /> its previous position that Western Branch Road from <br /> Air Line Turnpike to Hi~ St. be maintained and contin- <br /> ued as an avenue for travel, and <br /> 2 That the sum of ~4,000.00 be appropriated for the pur- <br /> pose of widening ~nd resurfacing the same from County <br /> Street to High Street. Such work is necessary in the <br /> interest of safety and the an ount reco~uended will, in <br /> the opinien of the City Engineer, ~o P.J. Bergeron, be <br /> sufficient. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> <br />H. ~. Weisem~, <br /> <br />Carl C. Houghton, <br />C. E. Warre~no~ <br /> <br /> ~ ~r. Ho~d that the ~ayor be authorized to szgn the con - <br />tract for a new ferry boat, was adopted, and by the fell'owing vo~e: <br /> <br />Ayes: <br /> <br />Nays: <br /> <br />Fox, ~ke, Grimes, Henderson, Houghton, Howard, <br />Sturtevant, Weiseman, I~ilson, ~arren <br />None <br /> <br />The following communications from th~ City Nanager were received: <br /> <br /> 1st - "The City Engineer received today copies of the new Building <br />Code and ~ am submitting ~ herewith and suggest that the Council suspend its rules and adop~ <br />the ordinance at t~s meeting. The printer has provided that the ordlnar~ce is adopted as of <br />Eay llth, 1948~ <br /> I further recommend that the Building Code be placed on sale <br />at $~.00 per copy, whi~ is $1.00 more than the actual cost to the City.- <br /> The necessity of copying the ordinance in the ordznance bgok$ <br />should be dispensed with, and a printed copy should ba kept on file by the City Cl~rk, certm- <br />fying its adoption." <br /> <br /> <br />
