<br /> insofar ~s it concez~ns the sale of Natural Gas to
<br /> the Portsmouth Gas Company.

<br /> V~VEEP~EAS, it has oome to the attention o f the Council that the
<br />Pertsmouth Gas Company contemplates the purchase of natural gas from the proposed facilities
<br />of Commonwealth Natural Gas Corporation f or resale for public consumption in the~ CLty of ?~ts
<br />mouth, which facilities are subject to the spproval of, and issuance by, the Federal
<br />Commission of a certificate of convenience and necessitya s required by the Natural Gas Act;
<br />and,
<br /> V~REAS, the Council deems the introduction of natural gas to
<br />be in the public interest and urges prompt consideration o f the matter by the rppropriate au
<br />thorities;
<br /> NOW, Ti~REF0?~, BE IT RESOLVED BY T~E COUNCIL OF THE CIT~ OF
<br />PORTS~0UTH: That the Attorney for said City be, and he is- hereby authorised and directed to
<br />take ~he necess?y steps to imtervene in any proceeding on behalf .of the Cit~ .of Portsmouth in|
<br />support of the ~ssuance of a certificate of convenience aud necessmty authorzzzng the construc~
<br />tion and operation of facilities for the introduction of natural gas ~ Portsmouth for public
<br />consumption, and to take any and all action considered by him necessary and appropriate to
<br />cure such action.
