OO2 <br /> <br />December 17. 1996 <br /> <br /> At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, December 17, 1996, <br />there were present: <br /> <br /> Mayor James W. Holley 111, Vice Mayor Johnny M. Clemons, Bernard D. <br />Griffin, Sr., *James T. Martin, Cameron C. Pitts, P. Ward Robinett. Jr., J. Thomas <br />Berm III, Ronald W. Massie. City Manager, G. Timothy Oksman City Attorney. <br /> <br />96-403- The following cai for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City <br />Council Chamber 6th floor of City Hair. 801 Crawford Street, at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, <br />December 17. 1996, for the purpose of a public work session. <br /> <br />In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an Executive Session. <br /> <br />By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr Pitts, to go into Executive <br />Session pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia for the <br />following: <br /> <br /> (1) Discuss'on of appointments by Council to committees, boards, or <br />commissions, as permitted by Subsection (A)(1). <br /> <br /> (2) Discussion or consideration of the condition, acquisition or use of real <br />property for a public purpose, or the disposition of publicly held property, as <br />permitted by Subsection (A)(3). <br /> <br /> (3) Discussion or consideration of specific legal matters requiring the provision <br />of legal advice by counsel, as permitted by Subsection (A)(7). <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by a vote of 6-1 (Councilman Martin absent). <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Benn, and seconded by Mr. Pitts. pursuant to Section 2.1- <br />344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying that to the best of the Council member's <br />knowledge during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: <br /> <br /> (1) Only public bus~ness matters lawfully exempted from open meeting <br />requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and <br /> <br /> (2) Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by <br />which the Executive Session was convened, were heard discussed or considered in <br />the meeting by the City Council. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />On motion meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />APPROVED - <br /> <br /> Dr. James W.
