OO2 December 17. 1996 At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, December 17, 1996, there were present: Mayor James W. Holley 111, Vice Mayor Johnny M. Clemons, Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., *James T. Martin, Cameron C. Pitts, P. Ward Robinett. Jr., J. Thomas Berm III, Ronald W. Massie. City Manager, G. Timothy Oksman City Attorney. 96-403- The following cai for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Council Chamber 6th floor of City Hair. 801 Crawford Street, at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 17. 1996, for the purpose of a public work session. In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an Executive Session. By order of the Mayor." Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr Pitts, to go into Executive Session pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia for the following: (1) Discuss'on of appointments by Council to committees, boards, or commissions, as permitted by Subsection (A)(1). (2) Discussion or consideration of the condition, acquisition or use of real property for a public purpose, or the disposition of publicly held property, as permitted by Subsection (A)(3). (3) Discussion or consideration of specific legal matters requiring the provision of legal advice by counsel, as permitted by Subsection (A)(7). The motion was adopted by a vote of 6-1 (Councilman Martin absent). Motion of Mr. Benn, and seconded by Mr. Pitts. pursuant to Section 2.1- 344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying that to the best of the Council member's knowledge during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: (1) Only public bus~ness matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and (2) Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the Executive Session was convened, were heard discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council.
