<br /> The City Manager presented the following resolutions to bozTow money from
<br />the four banks iu the City: The American National Bank, Merchants & Fail, ers B~ak, Citizens
<br />Trust Company and the Bank of Virginia, as follows:

<br />"Resolved that the City of Portsmouth borrow from the American Eatmonal
<br />B~ak, PortsmSuth, Virginia, the sum Of Fifty Thousand Dollars($50,O00.00),
<br />in anticipation of the collection of the revenues of the City for the cal-
<br />endar year 1949; that the proper officers be autherized to make a note
<br />or notes matttring at any time prior t o December 51st, 1949, and the reve-
<br />nues of the City for the current year are pledged to the repayment of such
<br />borrowing,m
<br />
<br />~'Resolved, that the City of Portsmouth borrow from the Merchants and Farm-
<br />ers Bank, Portsmouth, Virginia, the sum o f Fifty Thousand Dollars
