August 9th. 1949. <br /> <br /> "At the meeting of the School Board on August 5th, our architect,s <br />present and showed tentative drawings of the new colored high school building and its layout <br />on the school site purchased for this building. Fr~u this drawing the School Board realized <br />that the addition to this site of the triangular area to the west of this site was highly de- <br />sizable, even neces'sary, 'if this school is to be not' only the colored high school but the col- <br />ored community Center~ They knew of your desire to procure this property and the efforts you <br />have been making. It, th. erefore, passed a resolution requesting' the City .~{anager to bring <br />this matter before the C~ty Council and endeavor to procure this additional area for the col- <br />ored high school site. It also requested that a small ad%itional area be purchased in the <br />rear of this property bordering on ~Vool Avenue, through lot 14. It also requested that the <br />school arc~hitect, 5~r. Walford, have a personal interview wish the City I~anager, explaining to <br />him in detail the reasons for these requests. <br /> With great appreciationo f what you have done, I am." <br /> <br />~otion o f ~r. Howard to refer to the ganager to get prices, ~as adopted. <br /> <br />7th - The ~anager presented the following petition: <br /> <br /> "We, the undersigned residents of WoolAvenue hereby call to your atten- <br />tion how we suffer for~inadequate water service. The pressure of the water runs so slow at <br />times we cannot get it upstairs to our bathroom. %~;ill the City see to it to give us a better <br />water pressure. Howard to refer to the City ~anager and Superintendent of <br />the Water Department, was adopted. <br /> <br /> ~. Howard stated that we did not have a joint meeting with the Super- <br />visors of Norfolk County this month. The Supervisors appointgd a committee of two and asked <br />the Council to appoint a like connmittee, toact with them on the sale of the "Fort Lee". <br /> <br /> ~otion o f I~r. Howard that we appoint a committee of t~o to a ct with the <br />connnittee from the Supervisors on the sale of the ~Fort Lee" was adopted. <br /> <br /> The Chair appointed ~essrs. Bilisoly and Weiseman to said committee. <br /> <br /> An appropriation of $~,200.00 for repairs to the town clock, laid on <br />table at last meeting, was tkken up~ <br /> <br /> ~otion of ~Y~r. Nyman of ~14 Third St., for three chickens <br />killed by stray dogs, was presented. <br /> <br /> ~ot~on bf ~r. Sturtevant to authorize the Treasurer to pay said bill <br />from funds in her hands ~om collection of Dog Taxes, was adopted. <br /> <br /> ~r. Howard stated that he had in his hand a water and sewage bill which <br />is excessive~ and on his motion, s~e was referred to the City ~anager. <br /> <br /> ~r. Bilisoly stated that he would ask the City Eanager to consider plac- <br />ing benches on V~averly Boulevard. <br /> <br /> ~. ~arren stated he understood that several industrial plants had not <br />~onnecbed with the City sewer system.
