SThe Portsmouth Transit Company has surveyed the bus operations, dis -
cussed at the meeting with your Committee on Thursday, October 6th,.1949, ~ wish_ to submit
herewith our findings ~ud recon~mendations on each cf the subjects discussed.

A. The petition from the residents of the North Truxton section for
service into that new development.
The Portsmouth.Transit Company can serve this area by operating a
turn-back service into this section d~ing rush hours, smd by re-routing the Piedmont-Truxton
Line d'~ing non-~msh hours. At the present time~ the service on the Piedmont Truxton Line
sists of a turn-back service to Dale Street and Gosport Road, plus ~ae original line to Doug-
las Park. The operators on the Dale Street turn-back service are unable to meet th~i~ sche-
dules at this time in the non-rush periods; therefore, a ftu~ther extension of this turn-back
service into North Truxton can not be made during the non-rush hours. It is proposed to oper-
ate the Douglas Patak Line exactly as it is now operated during rush hours and to re-route and
extend the line into the North Truxton section during non-rush hours. The ~mshh our service
into the North Truxton section would be orovided by a cut-back service, begim~ing in this sec-
tion. -
The proposed Douglas ~ark ~oute during non-rush hours wo~ld be as
follows: Along the present route to Gosport Road and Deep Creek Boulevard; along Deep Creek
Boulevard to Dowries Street, along Dove, es Street to Armistead Drive, along Armistead Drive to
Dale Street, along Dale Street to Gosport Road and thence over the present route to Douglas
