wAt a recent me, ting of the Wilson Ward Civic Club, the location o f the
new white high school was discussed and by a unanimous vote, the me,feets decided to request
that you gentlemen please give every consideration to the selection of Glensheallah as the sit~
for the new school. As the property is already owned by the City, no home owners willhave to
be ejected and no conde~aation proceedings will be necessary.
Since the annexation this property is more centrally located, in regar¢
to the number of students than any other city o¥~ed property and further expansion of the City
will have to be westward.
~nose citizens who selfishly place recereation for themselves ahead of
education of their children by opposing the location of the school in Glensheallah will (if
recreation i s the real reason) soon have the new 18 hole golf course on t he 01d Suffolk Blvd.,
to while away their idle hours.
0nly in recent years has t~he City of Portsmouth had a g~oup of council-
men who looked into the future of our City and by locating the school on city-owned property
that has a natural beauty, you will not only be using good financial judgment, but you can in
the future look at a beautiful building wi~h Beautiful grounds and ~ave a feeling of pride
that you were instrumental in building this l~uclmark of a greater and better Portsmouth.
Hoping that you will give this matter every consideration, I remain,

Sincerely yours,
