February !4th, 1980 18th - TAt a recent meeting of the City Coumcil, i was requested to secure infor~mation concerning the 'salaries paid by other cities in the State of Virginia to their Central registrar. I attach b~reto a report from .H.l. Bam~es, w~xecutive Secre- tar~ of ti~ League of Virginia Municipalities and recommend that an appropriation in the sum of $8,000.06 be placed on its first readzng to £inance.the salaries and expenses of the office t~totmon 07 ~r..~mlzsoly ~hat an appropriation of .~$,000.00 for said purpose be placed on its first reading end that ~,800.00 of this be for salary of Registrar for the year 1950, was adopted. 19th "I am submitting herewith the proposed changes recommended by the Michie City Publishing Company to the City Charter. The City Attorney has incorporated them Lute a Bill to be presented to the pending session of the State Legislature. I recommend that the State Senator and members of the House of Delegates from Portsmouth be requested m have this Bill enacted into law." I also recommend that an ordinance be adopted prohibiting the use of the colors and style of our Police uniforms by any ~ther person, firm, association, or corporation within the limits of the City of Port~aouth.~ Motion of ~r.
