<br />~hereas, under Title I of the Housing Act of 1949, the Housing
<br />and ~ome Finance Administrator is authorized to a ssist local
<br />communities in eliminating their sl~ms and blighted areas and
<br />in previding maximum opportunity,~ consistent with the so'and
<br />needs of the locality as a whole, for the redevelopment of sm ch
<br />areas by private enterprLse, and to ~nat end is authorized to
<br />make local public agencies advances for surveys and plans in
<br />preparation of pro~ects, capital g~uts, and temporary and
<br />definitive loans; ~ud

<br />~hereas~ the ~ousing and Home Finance Ac~ministrator will con-
<br />sider ~equests for the reservation cST earmarking of the first
<br />~00,000,000. that ~will be made available under ~itle I for
<br />capital grs~os ~

<br /> i. That upon the basis of preliminary ssudies ~it is consi-
<br />dbmed to'be in the public inter~st and it is the desire
<br />purpose Of the community that there be undertaken a nd carried
<br />out of said $~00,000,000.,~ertain slum clearance and redevelop-
<br />ment work in tlme Community, and that ~nmh work, or at least the
<br />surveying oD pleDging.in connection therewith~ can b e started
<br />prior to July l~ 1951.

<br />~eserve or earmark for such work out of sa~d SBO0,000,000. am
<br />amount not exceeding $~90~80.00.

<br />3. That it is hereby r~cognized that under Title I of the
<br />t~ousing Act ~of 19~9 certain requiremenvs are imposed in order
<br />t6 obtain F~de~al aid thereur~der for slum clearance and redevel-
<br />opment projects including requirements for the provision of lo -
<br />Cal~ grants~in~aid, the ~approva! of redevelopment plans by the
<br />governing Body of the locality, the making of certain fird ings
<br />by such-aovernzng body, and other requ~rements~ and ~-t ~s ~ur-
<br />~her ~ecogn~-zed that the co-operatmon of the ommunzoy ~s nee
<br />~ssary ~o carry out the slum clears~ce and redevelopment progr~z~
<br />~which is proposed to b e undertaken and for which the resemvation
<br />of i~ands is hereby requested.

<br />~4. That Leslie T. _Wox, the duly authorized Nayor of the Gem =
<br />munity be and he is hereby directed to forward to said Admini -
<br />st~ator t~ree certified copies of this.resolution and such other
<br />supporting data and information as may be required, and that
<br />this resolution shall constitute the Community's formal request
<br />to the Administrator for the reservation of capital grant monies."
