On motion filed. 2nd - "I submit herewith an ordins~ce for the closing of Ivey Circl~ as shown on the plat recorded in Deed Book 199~ pages ll0 and lll~ which has been recommended for passage by our City Attorney, R. It wa~ brought to the attention of the City Council in regular session~ on May 9th~ 1950~ that the Seaboard Air Line Railroad Comoany was contemplating the discontinuance of ~assenger trains #13 a~d ~l~ Operating between Portsmouth and NgrY~na, N.C. The City of Portsmouth named Mayor Leslie T. Fox~ City Attorney R C Barclay and City Manager I.G.Vass to represent the City in the matter. This committee is of the' opinion that if these trains are discontinued it will materially affect the service rendered by the Railroad Company between t~e points mentioned and will be detrimental to the best interests of the citizens of Ports- mouth."
