Minutes of meeting held on July !!th: 1950 were read ~ approved. The following notice of the Planning and Zoning Commision was read: "Pursuant to the provisions of the Zoning 0rdinance~ notice i~ here- by given that a public hearing will be held at 7:30 P.M.~ on Tuesday: July 25th~ 1950: mn the Court of Hustings Court Roomy Court House B~ilding: Portsmouth~ Virginia~ for the purpose of altering zones ~nd reclassifying the followmng property:. t. Northeast corner of Lincoln and Washington Sts.~ 166.62 feet on Washington St.~ 65.32 feet on Lincoln St.: from Residential Class C to Commercial Class G. 2. Lot ~772 on east side of the 300 block of Mt. Vernon Ave. from Two-Family Dwelling Class C to Multiple Family Dwell- ing Class D. 3. Southeast corner of High St. and Rodman Ave. fronting 120 ft. on the south side of High St. and extending back and parallel to Rodman Ave.: 108½ feet excepting that portion thereof 60 x 60 ft. on the corner~from Two Family-Dwelling Class C to Commercial Cla~s F." Motion of Mr. Houghton to concur in the recow~endation of the ning and Zoning Commission was adopted. The following reports from the City P~nager were read: 1st - "I submit herewith an amended ordinance to Section 31 of the Motor Vehicle Code of the City of Portsmouth~ aud recommend that it be placed on its first readzug. Motion ~ ~. Weiseman to place the following ordinance on its firsl reading was adopted: "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 31 OF THE MOTORVEHICLE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH~ BY ADDING THERETO A t~Y SUBSECTIONRELATING TO PARKING OF MOTOR BUSES: VANS~ TRUCKS~ TP~ILERS~ OR S~II-TRAILEHS ON STREETS IN RESIDENTIAL DIS- TRICTS ON NIGHTS AND SUNDAYS." 2nd - "I submit herewith a letter from B.L. Rose wherein an offer is made for two lots located on the map of Pinners Point and recommend that the lots be offer- ed for auction as provided by the City Code with the ~uderstanding that we have a guarantee of a $325.00 bid for the ~o lots." Motion of ~. Howard that the City Manager sell the property at nublic auction was adopted. 3rd - '~lr. George Grimes~ Councilman from Harrison Ward has re- quested that I present to you the request of Mrs. C.W. Whiter widow of Police Officer C.W. White~ for payment of the amount of pension fund due her in the su~ of $160.28. I recommend that this amount be paid s~d that an appropri~= tion of $160.28 be placed on its first reading." Motion of Mr. Warren to place an appropriation of $160.28 for said purpose~ on its first reading~ was adopted. ~th - "I herewith submit a contract for the construction of the Police Headquarters building and recommend that the CityManagerbe authorized and directed to execute the contract when it has been approved by ~he City Attorney. The total construction cost shall not exceed the sum of $2~9~300.00." Motion of Mr. Duke thatthe City Manager be authorized to eXecUte the contract~after approval by the City Attorney~ was adopted~ ~nd by the following vote: Ayes: Bilisoly~ Du~e, Henderson~ Houghton~ Howar4~ Sturte- vant~ Warren~ Weiseman~ Wilson Nays: None 5th - "I am submitting herewith an amended contract between the United States of America and the City of Portsmouth~ Virginia~ for the supplying of sewage service and treatment for Virginia project #~086 and recommend that the City Manager be thorized and directed to execute the contract for and on behalf of the City of Portsmouth~V~" Motion of Mr. Weiseman that the City Manager be authorized to sign the contract was adopted and by the following vote:
