Barclay~ City Attorney. <br /> <br />Vice President Wilson in the Chair. <br /> <br />Minutes of meeting held on July !!th: 1950 were read ~ approved. <br /> <br />The following notice of the Planning and Zoning Commision was read: <br /> <br /> "Pursuant to the provisions of the Zoning 0rdinance~ notice i~ here- <br />by given that a public hearing will be held at 7:30 P.M.~ on Tuesday: July 25th~ 1950: mn the <br />Court of Hustings Court Roomy Court House B~ilding: Portsmouth~ Virginia~ for the purpose of <br />altering zones ~nd reclassifying the followmng property:. <br /> <br />t. Northeast corner of Lincoln and Washington Sts.~ 166.62 <br /> feet on Washington St.~ 65.32 feet on Lincoln St.: from <br /> Residential Class C to Commercial Class G. <br />2. Lot ~772 on east side of the 300 block of Mt. Vernon Ave. <br /> from Two-Family Dwelling Class C to Multiple Family Dwell- <br /> ing Class D. <br />3. Southeast corner of High St. and Rodman Ave. fronting 120 <br /> ft. on the south side of High St. and extending back and <br /> parallel to Rodman Ave.: 108½ feet excepting that portion <br /> thereof 60 x 60 ft. on the corner~from Two Family-Dwelling <br /> Class C to Commercial Cla~s F." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Houghton to concur in the recow~endation of the <br />ning and Zoning Commission was adopted. <br /> <br />The following reports from the City P~nager were read: <br /> <br /> 1st - "I submit herewith an amended ordinance to Section 31 of <br />the Motor Vehicle Code of the City of Portsmouth~ aud recommend that it be placed on its <br />first readzug. <br /> <br />Motion ~ ~. Weiseman to place the following ordinance on its firsl <br /> <br />reading was adopted: <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 31 OF THE MOTORVEHICLE <br />CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH~ BY ADDING THERETO A t~Y <br />SUBSECTIONRELATING TO PARKING OF MOTOR BUSES: VANS~ TRUCKS~ <br />TP~ILERS~ OR S~II-TRAILEHS ON STREETS IN RESIDENTIAL DIS- <br />TRICTS ON NIGHTS AND SUNDAYS." <br /> <br /> 2nd - "I submit herewith a letter from B.L. Rose wherein an offer <br />is made for two lots located on the map of Pinners Point and recommend that the lots be offer- <br />ed for auction as provided by the City Code with the ~uderstanding that we have a guarantee of <br />a $325.00 bid for the ~o lots." <br /> <br /> Motion of ~. Howard that the City Manager sell the property at <br />nublic auction was adopted. <br /> <br /> 3rd - '~lr. George Grimes~ Councilman from Harrison Ward has re- <br />quested that I present to you the request of Mrs. C.W. Whiter widow of Police Officer C.W. <br />White~ for payment of the amount of pension fund due her in the su~ of $160.28. <br /> I recommend that this amount be paid s~d that an appropri~= <br />tion of $160.28 be placed on its first reading." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Warren to place an appropriation of $160.28 for said <br />purpose~ on its first reading~ was adopted. <br /> <br /> ~th - "I herewith submit a contract for the construction of the <br />Police Headquarters building and recommend that the CityManagerbe authorized and directed to <br />execute the contract when it has been approved by ~he City Attorney. The total construction <br />cost shall not exceed the sum of $2~9~300.00." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Duke thatthe City Manager be authorized to eXecUte <br />the contract~after approval by the City Attorney~ was adopted~ ~nd by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Bilisoly~ Du~e, Henderson~ Houghton~ Howar4~ Sturte- <br /> vant~ Warren~ Weiseman~ Wilson <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> 5th - "I am submitting herewith an amended contract between the <br />United States of America and the City of Portsmouth~ Virginia~ for the supplying of sewage <br />service and treatment for Virginia project #~086 and recommend that the City Manager be <br />thorized and directed to execute the contract for and on behalf of the City of Portsmouth~V~" <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Weiseman that the City Manager be authorized to sign <br />the contract was adopted and by the following vote: <br /> <br /> <br />
