February_ 11. 1997 <br /> <br />(d) Z-97-02 RIVER PARK NEIGHBORHOOD - Maryview Hospital requests a <br /> rezoning of a portion of the Hunt-Mapp Middle School property from <br /> Residential Single-Family RS-75 to Planned Office Park POP. <br /> <br />1. Albert Taylor, Jr., P. O. Box 1475, provided information on the rezoning <br />application. <br /> <br />2. Wayne Jones. 3600 High Street, provided information on the rezonin§ application. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Robinett, and seconded by Mr. Benn, to concur with the <br />recommendation of the Planning Commission that Z-97-02 be approved on first <br />reading, and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />(f) UP-96-30 AIRLINE COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL CORRIDOR - Use permit <br /> application of Leonard Aluminum Building, Inc. d/b/a Leonard Buildings <br /> and Truck Accessories to retail portable buildings and truck <br /> accessories at 3515 Airline Boulevard. <br /> <br />Morton Whitlow, 320 London Bou evard, provided information on the proposed use <br />permit application. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Benn, and seconded by Mr. Martin, to concur with the <br />recommendation of the Planning Commission that UP-96-30 be approved on first <br />reading, and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />(g) UP-97-03 DOWNTOWN NEIGHBORHOOD - Use permit application of Norman <br /> Malbon to operate an ice cream shop at 507 and 509 Middle Street. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Benn, and seconded bY Mr. Robinett, to concur with the <br />recommendation of the Planning Commission that UP-97-03 be approved on first <br />reading, and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />- CITY MANAGER'S REPORT - <br /> <br />97 - 42 - Ordinance closing Beech Road, West Road (the eastern portion), <br />Glasgow Street, a street within the Atlantic Coast Line right-of-way, West Road <br />(western portion) and Myrtle Road, East Road, Cedar Way, Branch Road and <br />unnamed streets. <br /> <br />Recom______mendation: <br /> <br />Adoption of an ordinance closing Beech Road, West Road (the eastern portion), <br />Glasgow Street, Street within Atlantic Coast Line Right-of-Way, West Road <br />(western portion), Myrtle Road, East Road, Cedar Way, Branch Road and <br />unnamed streets <br /> <br />~Need: <br /> <br />Maryview Hospital is planning to begin construction of a new wing that will be <br />devoted to the diagnosis and treatment of diseases affecting women, and will <br />function as a birthing center. <br /> <br />As a result of the expansion, Maryview plans to purchase a portion of the area <br />behind Hunt-Mapp Middle School, and the closure of a number of street areas is <br />also necessary. <br /> <br />There are a number of other Streets which are paper streets that should be <br />closed at the same time so that the area between Hartford Street and the old <br />right-of-way of the CSX is free of unneeded streets and wholly in the name of the <br />City of Portsmouth. <br /> <br /> <br />
