<br />The City Clerk presented the following resolution:

<br />~MEREAS, the~ccoumts and records of the office of A.E. Parker,
<br />City Collector, were audited by A.P. Johnson, Jr., City Clerk
<br />amd Auditor, were found correct, as shown by the books of the
<br />City, and
<br />WHEREAS, it appears that it is %he duty of the City Council
<br />to have examined yearly the list of ttucollected taxes and to
<br />credit th~City Collector such taxes as in their opinion ~o~d
<br />not have been collected with due diligence, and
<br /> WHEREAS, it appears that A. E. Parker, City Collector, should be
<br />credited with all taxes levied in 1950, remaining uncollected
<br />on the 15th day of March, 1951, the amount of which is shown in
<br />said report of A.P. Johnson, Jr., City Clerk and Auditor,
<br /> N0~, TNEREFORE, Be it Resolved by the Comucil of the City of
<br />Portsmouth, Virginia, that A. E. Parker, City Collector, be credited
<br />with all ~ueollected taxes levied in 1950, remaining in his office~
<br />OhM arch 15th, 1951, and that he be relieved of his responsibility
<br />for not having collected the ss~e, but nothing herein contained shall
<br />be construed as relieving the payment of said taxes by persons owing
<br />same, or in relieving A. E. Parker, City Collector, from his responsi-
<br />bility for any sums so collected."

<br /> Motion of Mr. Grimes that the City Treasurer be authorized to pay said bill from

<br /> Mr. Duke stated that a vacancy exists in the office of Justice of Peacein Tyler
<br />~ard. On motion of Mr. Duke, Mrsl A. B. Westbrook was elected to fill the unexpired term of the late A.B.
<br />Westbrook, and by the following vote:

<br />third floor of the Market Building for a period of thirty months· This is ~bmitted for your consideration."

<br /> Motion of Mr. Bilisoly that the City Manager and City Attorney be authorized to
