<br />Minutes of regdlar meeting of April 24th, 1951 were read and approved.

<br /> "Pursuant to the provisions of the Zoning Ordinance, notice is hereby given that a
<br />public hearing will be held at 7:30 P.M., on Tuesday, Nay 8th, 1951, in the Council Chamber, M~zl¢ipal Building,
<br />Portsmomth, Fa.., for the purpose of altering zones and reclassifying the fellc~ property:
<br /> Sears Roebuck and Company, to rezone 385 feet on morth side of
<br /> King Street beginning at the northwest corner of King St. and
<br /> Second Avenue, 108.5 feet deep; 290 feet on the south side of
<br /> King St., beginning at the southwest corner of King St. and Second
<br /> Ave., 108.5 feet deep and 260 feet on the north side of Coumty

<br />The Commi%teeuappointed on the Utility Tax ordinance, made the following report:

<br /> "The Committee, named to consult with officials of the Portsmouth Gas Company, concern-
<br />ing their request for am amendment to the Utility Tax ordinance on. the. Gas Company, held several meetings and af-
<br />ter giving the question due consideration, we do not recommend any change in the Utility Tax ordinance at the
<br />present time.

<br />an appropriation in the sum of $9,000.00 be placed on its first reading, for Said purpose~"- ' ' ~

<br /> Motion of Mr. Warren to place an appropriation of $9,000.00 from Water funds, for said
<br />purpose, on its first reading, was adbpted.

<br />2nd - "I submit the attached ordinance and recommend that it be placed on its first
<br />
<br />reading.

<br /> 3rd - "I submit herewith a letter .and an agreement between the Atlantic and Danville
<br />Railway Company and the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, covering a te~ inch east ire~ water main crossing under the
<br />tracks and over the right of way at Route l? Churchland, Va.
<br /> I recommend that the City Manager be authorized and directed to execute the
<br />same for and on behalf of the City of Portsmouth and that the City Clerk he authorized to attest and affix the
<br />City seal thereto, subject to the approval of the City Attorney as to form, etc."

<br /> Motion of Mr. Grimes that the City ¥~nager be authorized to sign maid agreement and
<br />that the City Clerk be authorized to attach the seal of the City, was adopted, and by the following wore:
