1st - "The following teachers will retire on July l, 1951~ after a period of long and faithful service bo the Portsmouth Schools: Miss Nargaret M. Atkins, supervisor of art in the Portsmouth Public Schools for thirty years ~s. Pauline EoB. Williams, elemenba~-y teacher i_u Portsmouth Schools for a period of thirty-th_tee years Miss Euth A. Harris, teacher of the elementary grades in the ?ortsmouth Schools for a period of thirty-three years." Motion of Yin. Weiseman that a letter of appreciation be written and that they be placed on the gratuity list, was adopted. 2nd - "I am hereb~y notifying you of the expiration of the terms of office of the follow- Lug members of the School Board, bheir terms expirS_ug July l, 1951: Fzrst Dlstrzct. Second District: Third District: Mr. Harold Bo Tiffany Mr. Joseph M. ~asing Mr. Edgar ~. Lawrence." Motion of Mr. 'Eeis~man to go into the election of mem'~grs of the School Board, adopted. Mr. Smit~ nominated Harold B. Tiffany from the First District Mr. Duke nominated J.M. Tusin§ from the Second District Ym. ~eiseman nond_ua~ed Edgar W. Lawrence from the Third District. Motion of Mr. Sturtevant that the nomiuations be closed, was adopted. Vote being t~ken, Harold B. Tiffany, JoM. Tusing and Edgar W. Lavrr~uce were elected to bhe School Board for ~ term of three years, beginning July 1st, 1951, and by the following vote: Ayes: D~k~, Bilisoly, Grimes, Houghton, Howard, Sn~th, Sturtevant, ~arren~ ~eiseman., ~ilscn Nays: None Mr. Houghton presented the following petition: "We are the home owners of Oregon Acres.~e have a five foot easement on the back of the lots for public utilities. ~ie are asking the City of Portsmouth and the sewer contractors to run sewer lines back of our lots instead of the streets.
