<br />2~th, 1951, the following resolution was unanimously adopted:

<br />"Be it Resolved by the Board of Sinking D~nd Commissioners of the
<br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that there being insufficient money in
<br />the Sinking Fund of the City to pay the bonds of the City ma~uri~
<br />during the ye%r 1952 without seriously d epletLug the security of the
<br />~ity's remaining outstanding bonds, the Council of the City of Ports -
<br />mouth is hereby requested to make provisions for the payment of the
<br />following bonds falling due in the year 1952:
<br />
<br /> $250,000.00 School Bonds due January l, 1952
<br /> $600,000.00 Sewerage and Street ImproM~nent due June l, 1952."
<br />
<br />On motion, the recommendation of the City ~L~nager was approved.

<br />- UNFINISHED BUSINESS -

<br /> An appropriation of $5,000.00 to KLugs Daughters Hospital for use of the hospital morgue,
<br />placed on its first reading at the last meeting of the City Council, ~s taken up.

<br /> Motion of Mr. Houghton to ~spend the rules a~d that the privilege of the floor be granted
<br />a delegation from Wilson Ward, was adopted.

<br /> J. J. Edwards, of the N~ple Shade Civic League, expressed thanks to the Council for lights
<br />installed and read the following petition:
<br />
<br /> '~AS, the City of Portsmouth is building a new project known as Jeffery Wilson, and
<br />this property is being equipped with the necessary public convenience and this project joins Maple Shade, of
<br />which we are a part.
<br /> THEREFORE, we, the ~mtmzens of this commmmity are asking that the Portsmouth Council,while
<br />making public improvements i~ the WilsOn Project consider ~ple Shade with sewerage and other improvements.
<br />

<br /> Motion of F~. Houghton that the petition be referred to the City Manager and City Eng!neer,

<br />all angles amd report back to the Council, was adopted.
