Attached -
,In recent months we have had many c~equests from residents in the Piuuers PoLut
area for a more direct route te downtown Portsmouth. We ha~e also had requests from residents of the River Park
section to route the River Park bus over the new fill on Detroit Street, thu~ affording these people a mere di -
rect route to the business area and churches in Port Norfolk.
We have delayed action on these requests pending the hard surfacing of the De-
troit St. fill, and, since this Work has now been completed, we are propasing a change in the rout~ of the
Pinners Point and River park bus lines which we feel will be satisfactory to those patrons involved.
We have met With Mayor Duke and CouncilmauHow~rd and discussed the proposed
route changes. It is felt that the routing as outlined will adequately provide the requested service. Mr, How-
ard and Mr. Duke have suggested that these routes ve adopted on a thirty day trial basis, after which a perm~nen~
ordinance can be adopted.
turning along the same route teM o,mut Vernon Avenue, to Hartford Street, to Burry Street, teW~.~]ace Circle, to
~ince we are no~ in the process cf preparing our new schedule assignments te pro-
vide school service on September 10th, we should like for the trial period to begin on that date and extend for
thirty days thereafter. If there is any ~urther information you desire Lu connection with these changes, please
