A~b~, AND EFFINGHAM STREET" <br /> <br />On m~tion of Mr. Grimes, said ordinance was adopted, ~and by the following vete: <br /> <br />Ayes: <br /> <br />Nays: <br /> <br />D~ke, Bilisoly, G~imes, Hawks, HoUghton, Howard, Lawrence, <br />Smith, St~urtevant, Warren, ~ils~n <br />None <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS - <br /> <br />The following letter from the City of Hampton was read: <br /> <br /> "I am pleased to inclose herewith a resolution adopted by the City Council of Hampton, in <br />reference to the Bi-Cente~uial celebration of your City. <br /> <br />Very truly yours, <br /> <br />Gibson, Clerk." <br /> <br />Resolution - <br /> <br />"WHEREAS, it appearing to this Council that the City of Portsmouth is <br />shortly to celebrate the two hundredth anniversary of its establish- <br />ment as a City;~ aud, <br /> ~EREAS, This Council is cognizant of the 16rig, outstanding record of <br /> achievement by'its neighboring City across'Hampton Roads, <br />NO~, THEREFORE, BE IT RE~OLVED on motion of Er. Bentley, duly seconded <br />and unanimousl~ adopted, that this Council extend~ and it hereby does, <br />its sinc ere felicitations to its neighboring City of Portsmouth and that <br />it express the' hope that its future grown and progress may he as outstaud- <br />ing as its past achievements. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the <br />City of Portsmouth by the Clerk of this Court. <br /> A roll call v~te~ on the foregoing resolution, resulted as follows: <br /> <br />ayes -'Bentley, Bloxom, Hewins, Eittelmaier, Crenshaw <br />Nays - None." <br /> <br />On motion adjourned. <br /> <br />Approved - <br /> <br /> President. <br /> <br /> <br />
