December ~ch. 1~2. <br /> <br /> The following letter from Dr. L.H. Denny was read: <br /> <br /> "We hereby request that the City Council approve re~sement in the amount of <br />$25.00 in favor of the Vagabonds Football Club. The Club reserved the Municipal Stadium for a night game on <br />November llth, 1952, and paid the $15.00 rental guarantee and $25.00 for use of flood lights five d~ys in advance <br />as required in the contract. On account of heavy rain the games were postponed until the following Sunday af- <br />ternoon at which time there was no use for flood lights. <br /> Your consideration will b e appreciated and should the refund be approved, the check <br />should be made payable to Kate Battle, manager of the Vagabonds, whose address is 1503 Queen St., Portsmouth,Va.- <br /> <br /> Motionof Mr. Howard to refer to the City Manager ~as adopted. <br /> <br /> A bill from Douglas ~. Sturgis, of 720 Broad St., in the amount of $31.60 for chicken <br />killed by stray dots, was presented. <br /> <br /> Notion of Mr. H ~ard that the City Treasurer be authorized to pay same from funds in <br />her hands from collection of Dog Taxes, was adopted. <br /> <br /> Notion of Mr. Lawrence that the Housing authority be requested not to ~ke any action <br />on the condemnation of the property on the south side of South Street between Pine Street, Prentis Avenue and the <br />~ncinerator, f or Slum Clearance, until a conference has been held between the Housing Authority amd the Council, <br />was adopted. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Smith that the razing of the old fire station at Glasgow and Effingham <br />Streets be completed before December 25th, 1952, was adopted. <br /> <br /> Notic~ of ~Lr. Bilisoly that the Council endorse the sending of clothing to children <br />in Korea and that the matter, as described in a newspaper article presented to the Council, be referred to the <br />Portsmouth Ministerial Union, was adopted. <br /> <br />On motion adjourned. <br /> <br />Approved - <br /> <br /> President. <br /> <br /> <br />
