<br /> south 147.34 feet to Glasgow Street, thai east along the north side of Glas-
<br /> gow Street 13.7 feet to the point of beginning, from Two Family,, Class
<br /> ro Light Industrial, Class "I TM, be denied.
<br /> 2. R. E. Byrd to close a ten fo6t alley north from Hartford Street to Bar-
<br /> low Place between Cambridge and W~st Avenues. The Commission respectfully
<br /> recommends to the City Council to abandon said alley.
<br /> 3. Ruth Tazewelt to rezone the southwest corner of Fayette Street and Green
<br /> Street, fronting 9.5.5 feet on the west side of Green Street and 105 feet on
<br /> the south side of Fayette Street from Two Family, Class "C" to Commercial
<br /> Class "F", be denied.
<br /> 4. George Day to rezone the northwest corner of Nelson Street and Chestnut
<br /> Street, fronting 25.5 feet on the west side of Chestnut Street and 80 feet on
<br /> the north side of Nelson Stree~ from Two Family, Class "C" to Commercial
<br /> Class "F" be denied.

<br />Randolph St., fronting 50 feet on the east side of Des Noines Avenue by 19,0
<br />feet deep from Single Family, Class "A" to TWO Family,~ Class "C" be approved.
<br />7. The Commission studied the request of the City Council ~o change ~4ac
<br />Arthur Avenue, between High and North Streets, to a two-wa~ traffic street.
<br />It was decided not to concur with this request as it would re-create a
<br />dangerous traffic hazard."

<br /> ~{r. Hawks, reporting for the committee appointed ~o study the question of closing the alley
<br />north from ~artford Street to Barlow Placs, between Cambridge andWest Avenues recommended that the alley be
<br />closed and that l~r. Byrd dedicate a five foot strip of land along Cambridge Avenue ~o the City of Portsmouth.

<br /> Notion of ~r. Wilson to concur in the recommendation of the Planning Commission and the eom -I
<br />mittee's reDort~ was adopted.

<br />as to whether two of the Commissioners of the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority, who now reside
<br />i~ Norfolk County, are eligible to hold office as members of the commission. The Act of the General Assembly of
<br />Virginia, authorizing the creation of Redev~Dmeu~ and Housing Authorities, known as Title 36 of the Code of
<br />Virginia, 1950, is silent as to residennes of the Commissioners, with the exception of Section 36-18 which is
<br />written in the negative and which readsas fDllov~s~

<br /> 36-18. ~eetings~and residence of commissioners-- Nothing contained in this chapter shall
<br />be construed to prevent meetings of the commissioners of a housing authority anywhere within the p~imeter boun~
<br />daries of the area of operation of the authority or within any additional area where the housing authority is
<br />thorized to undertake a housing project, nor to prevent the appointment of any person as a commissioner of the~.
