May 8, 2001 At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, May 8, 2001, there were present: ~Mayor James W. Holley !11, Vice Mayor Bernard D, Griffin, Sr., Cameron C. Pitts P. ward Robinett, Jr., J. Thomas Berm III, William E. Moody, Jr., Charles B. Whitehurst Sr., City Manager Daniel M. Stuck, Deputy City Attorney George M. Willson. 01 - 144 - The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Council Chamber, 801 Crawrord Street, 6th floor, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 8, 2001 for the purpose of a Public Work Session. In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. By order of the Mayor." 01 - 145 - The following item was discussed in Public Work Session: 1. Commission of Architectural Review Appeal for 435 Washington Street Motion by Mr. Robinett, and seconded:by Mr. Berm, to waive the rules of order to allow Mr. Heath an additional minute to speak, and ~vas adopted by unanimous vote. 1. Ed Heath, 450 Dinwiddie Street, spoke in support of the demolition of the structure at 435 Washington Street. 2. Doris K~ Leitner, 215 Glasgow Street, spoke in support of the Commission of Architectural Review's denial of the demolition application. Motion by Mr. Robinett, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to concur with the decision of the Commission of Architectural Review for Olde Towne, Cradock and Truxtun to deny the demolition of a structure at 435 Washington Street, and was adopted by a vote of 4-3 (Benn, Moody, Pitts), On motion, meeting adjourned.
