130 <br /> <br />May 13, 1997 <br /> <br />Recommendation_: <br /> <br />· Adoption of an ordinance to. expand the membership of the Mayor's Sister Cities <br /> Commission. <br /> <br />Pur :ose and Need: <br /> <br />Three years ago, the Mayor's Sister Cities Commission requested and received <br />permission to increase its complement from 15 to 21. <br /> <br />The work of the Commission ane the nature of the Commission's projects justified <br />an expansion of the membership and a Lengthening of a member's term. <br /> <br />· This code amendment will bring the City Code into compliance with the present <br /> membership complement. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br />· There is no financial impact. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. Martin, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br /> "AN ORDINANCE EXPANDING THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE MAYOR'S <br />SISTER CITIES COMMISSION FROM THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH." <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Clemons, Griffin, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />97 - 146 - Adoption of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to convey to the <br /> Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority all right, title, and <br /> interest the City of Portsmouth may have in the eastern half of <br /> Nashville Avenue. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Adoption of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to convey all right, title and <br />interest in a closed portion of Nashville Avenue to PRHA. <br /> <br />Pur ose and Need: <br /> <br />· The conveyance of this portion of Nashville Avenue will quiet any question about <br /> title to the street created by the recent deed to the City from the Receiver of the <br /> Prentis Park Corporation. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br />· There is no financial impact from the street conveyance. <br /> <br />· PRHA is paying the City the assessed value of properties in this area, which it is <br /> acquiring for expansion of its maintenance facility. <br /> Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. Robinett, to adopt the following <br />resolution, and was adopted by unanimous vote: <br /> <br /> "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO CONVEY TO <br />PORTSMOUTH REDEVELOPMENT AND HOUSING AUTHORITY ALL RIGHT, <br />TITLE AND INTEREST THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH MAY HAVE IN THE <br />EASTERN ONE HALF OF NASHVILLE AVENUE CLOSED BY ORDINANCE <br />NUMBER 1974-20. <br /> <br /> <br />
