MaY 131 1§97 <br /> <br />,:.t 2.7 <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr: Clemons,; and seconded by Mr. Pitts, to concur with the <br />recommendation of the Planning COmmission that UP-97-I1 be approved on first <br />reading, and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />(d) UP-97-12 <br /> <br />OLDE TOWNE NEIGHBORHOOD - Use permit request of Water <br />Taxi Inc. for a use permit to operate a water taxi service at 10 <br />Crawford Parkway. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Griffin, to concur with the <br />recommendation of the Planning Commission that UP-97-12 be approved on first <br />reading, and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />-ClTYMANAGER'S REPORT- <br /> <br />97- 142- Adoption of an ordinance to amend Chapter 22 of the City Code by <br /> enacting a new Section 22-87.1 pertaining to refunds of City Vehicle <br /> License Taxes. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />An ordinance to amend Chapter 22 ofthe Portsmouth City Code, by enacting <br />a new section 22-87.1, pertaining to refunds of city vehicle license taxes. <br /> <br />Purpose and Need: <br /> <br />Currently, decal refunds are prorated on a monthly basis. Portsmouth is one of <br />the few cities continuing this practice. <br /> <br />· This change will increase the efficiency of the Commissioner of the Revenue's <br /> office by: <br /> <br />1. Reducing the number of refunds issued on vehicle licenses. <br /> <br />2. Simplifying the refund process. <br /> <br />3. Reducing the expenses related to refunds with respect to materials and <br /> labor. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br />The dollar amount of refunds should be reduced which will have a positive <br />financial impact in addition to savings of supplies. <br /> <br /> Motion bY Mr. Martin, and seconded by Mr. Griffin, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br /> "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 22.
