Ma~Ch~22nck Attached - "The School Board has directed me to request a meeting with your B~Iy for the purpose of discussing our School Building Program. I would appreciate it very m~ch i£ you will arrange such a meeting at the earliest possible date." On motion fil~. 55-64 - "It is reco~m~ended that the City increase the amount of its daily payment for care of medically indigent patients to $I3.50 per day. This is the amount now being paid by the City of Norfolk and the City of Suffolk and is not out of line with other Virginia cities. It la further recoa~ended that the payments for the use of the morgue at Kings Daugh- ters~ HOspital be pIaced on a quarterly basis and the amount reduced to $500.00 per quarter. There would he no change in the charges for the use of the emergency room. This recommendation has c~me about by a study ef practises of other Virginia cities and in full c~asiderati~ of tl~e operating expenses of both the hospital and City. I recommend that the sum of $6,000.00 be placed en first remding te supplement the b~dget appropriation ~o June 30th, 1955." Motion ef Mr. Smith that the Mayor, City Mwaager and C~y Attorney request the Board of the Kings Daughters Hospital te place a representative of the City on the Hospital Board and that an appropria- tion ef $6,000.00 be placed ~n first reading, was ad~pt~. 55-65 - "I submit the attached bids received for wideazing the pavement on the wes~ side of Elm Avenue south of the Ida BarbeurHousing Project to t~e Seaboard Air Line Railroad. I s~bmit the attached report from the Hemlth Department and I h~ve been advised that there is ne rental of horses in this l~cation at the present time.~' On motion filed. 55-67 - 'I submit the attached notice of the Forty-Second Nationa~ Con vention of the National Rivers and Harbors Congress to be held in Washington, D.C. at the Mayflower Hotel, May 31st, June 1st, 1955. I have never attended one of these meetings and amnot familiar with what, if any, benefit, the City of Portsmouth, as a Clty mould receive. "I 55-7~ - ~ am submitting a request from Mrs. Irene Brown that the City advertise for sale at public auction lot ~8 in block 47 en the Plan of Brighton, fronting on Pearl St. This is for your consideration." Motion of Mr. Grimes that the City Manager he authorized te advertise the property for sale, was adopted. 55-71 - The question of the $39.00 invoice su~mittsdlby H.W. Sharp at the last Council meeting was referred te me. Upon investigation, I find that the State lam does not provide for payment of such bills; therefore, I do not reeom~e~ that it he paid." ~otien of ~r.
