Marcum." <br /> <br />adopted. <br /> <br />Motion of Mr. Bilisoly to go into the election of members of the school Hoard, was <br />Mr. Bilisoly nominated Mrs. W. B. Spong from the First District. <br /> <br />There being ao omher nominations, Mrs. Spong was unanimQusly elected. <br /> <br />Mr. Baker nominated William N. Stublen from the Second District. <br /> <br />There being no other nominations, Mr. Stublen was unanimously elected. <br /> <br />~r. Grimes nominated Harry H. Harcum from the Third Bistrict. <br /> <br />There being no other nominations, Mr. Harcumwas unanimously elected. <br /> <br />- NEW BUSINESS - <br /> <br />55-160 The Clerk presented the following resolution: <br /> <br />"RESOLVED, that the City of Portsmouth borrow from the American <br />National Bank, Portsmouth, Virginia, the sum of Four Hundred <br />Thousand Dollars ($400,000.00), in anticipation of the collection <br />of the revenues of the City for the calendar year of 1955; that <br />the proper office~s be authorizeid to make a no~e or notes maturing <br />at any time prior to December 30, 1955 and the revenues 5f the <br />City for the current year are ple~i~ed to the repayment of such <br />borrowing." <br /> <br />"RESOLVED, that the City of Portsmouth borrow from the National <br />Bank of S~LTfolk, Suffolk, Virginia, lh6 sum of Two Hundred Thousand <br />Dollars ($200,000.00), in anticipation ~f the collection of the <br />revenues of the City for the calendar year of 1955; that the proper <br />o~fic ers be authorized tomake a no~e or notes maturing at ~ny time <br />prior ~o December 30~ 1955 and the revenues of the City for the <br />current year are pledged to the repayment of such borrowing." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Bilisoly to adopt the resd~tions was adopted. <br /> <br /> 55-161 The following petition was read: <br /> <br /> "In regard to the Street Improvement Program now in progress in the City, we wish <br />call your attention to the deplorable condition of the 800 block of Scott St., between Effingham and Chestnut <br /> <br /> <br />
