A sketch showing the ~ro-
posed relocation accompanSed the request and is submitSed herewith. :'("~
The Planning Commission recommends ~o City Council that this proposed reloca-
tion of Race St. be apl~rOV~d. This acli)n w~s taken by the Planning Commission at a meeting on May 16, 1956.
It is felt that the requested relocation is desirable for two reasons: first,
since this portion of Race St. will be a major traffic street, it would be feasible to have it located on the
perimete~ of the ne~ shopping center rather than passing~through it; second, it is felt that a more satisfactory
transition between the shopping center and the residential area south of Scott St. may be provided, The proposed
layout provides for a separate frontage road to serve the houses along the south side of Scott St., and this
frontage road would not carry any through traffic. Between the frontage road and Race St. there will he space
for screen planting.
It is our understanding that this reques~ ~s made at this time in order that
the change in the intersection of Race St. with the new by-passe-if approved, may he incorporated in the state
highway plans a~ the earliest possible date.~'

Motion of Mt.
