Clemons, Griffin, Martin, Robinett, Holley <br />Nays: Pitts <br /> <br />- CITY MANAGER'S REPORT- <br /> <br />97-180- <br /> <br />Adoption of an ordinance to appropriate $4,839,015 from the Public <br />Utilities Capital Improvements Fund for the Pitchkettle Road Raw Water <br />Pumping Station which will expand the water system to increase <br />· servIce to Chesapeake by 2 million gallons per day. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />· Adoption of an ordinance to appropriate a total of $4,839,015 for the Pitchkettle <br /> Road Raw Water Pumping Station. <br /> <br />Purpose and Need: <br /> <br />The May 28, 1996 Water Sales Contract Amendment between Portsmouth <br />and Chesapeake provides that Chesapeake will pay for construction of a new <br />raw water intake and pumping station and pipeline on Portsmouth's Lake <br />Meade. Portsmouth will construct and own this facility which will make a~ <br />additional 2 mgd (million gallons per day) of water available to Chesapeake. <br /> <br />· This appropriation is for the construction of the new facilities. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br />· By contract, the City of Chesapeake reimburses Portsmouth for all costs <br /> associated with the construction of the facilities. <br /> <br /> <br />
