Minutes of regular meeting of June 12th and called meeting of june 20th, 1956, were

"The committee appointed in connectinn with the disposition of the ferry property, met
with the Committee from the Board of SupervisOrs of Norfolk County, on June 18th, 1956, and discussed au length
the division of the funds to be received from the sale of the real estate. The Committee from the County contend-
ed the money should be divided according ~o an ~appraisal made for the County. The Committee for the City contende¢
that there were certain factors omitted from th~ County's appraisal, and .after considering that when the property
in Norfolk was offered for sale as single parceIs, the highest bids made were $17,000.00 for the old ferry dock
owned by Norfolk County, an~ $10,000.00 for the New~on Wharf owned jointly by the City and the Councy, the land
value was deterrmined by taking the proportions of the sale price of $35,000.00 to Norfolk County. ~fter allowing
the city one-half of the improvement on the old ferry dock, one-half of value of the Newtown Wharf property and
one-half of the sale of the land in Berkley~ it was found that L the amoun~ due to the City was very near the sum
of $12,500.00, which the City agreed ~opay the County for its interest in the Portsmouth property.
The County Committee contended that the City would owe the County about $1,800.00,
and the City contended ~hat the County would owe the City about $2,000.00 according ~o the valuations made. After
carefully considering the differences, which were ~o a large exren~ estimates of value and something that could
not be definitely determined, the committees agreed that the proceeds of the sale of the Norfolk and Berkley
properties be paid to Norfolk County in consideration of the County conveying to the City its interest in the
Portsmouth property. We recommend that this settlement be approved.
