July 24th, 1956. <br /> <br /> be ~esignated as the official hostess of the City at community activities held in the City. <br /> We see no objection to such designation so long as it does not interfere with the posi- <br /> tion of the Mayor's wife or other lady who would in the nature of the activity be termed the hostess. We think <br /> it will be proper to adopt the following resolution: <br /> "Be it resolved that the person who is selected each year at the official pageant <br /> sponsored by the Portsmouth Junior Chamber of Commerce as 'Miss Portsmouth' is <br /> hereby designated as the official hostess of the City in such community activities <br /> as the Mayor may request her to appear. <br /> <br /> Signed - City Manager and City Attorney." <br /> <br /> On motion o£ Mr. Smith said resolution was adopted. <br /> <br /> 56-215 - "I am reporting~ that the premises purchased by the Beazley Foundati~ Academy <br /> known as the Carver Homes Property has a six inch service line to the premises on which is installed a six inch <br /> water meter. <br /> <br /> It is not anticipated that the property will be placed ~n use prior to Septem- <br /> ber, 1957. There is no one occupying the premises except a caretaker. <br /> <br /> For the month beginning April 20, and ending ~ay 22 there were 5 cub.' <br />water consumed for which it was necessary to make a charge of t54 4o ~-~ +~ ~ -~ ~-' - ~c £eet of <br /> ~ me~er. ~ am recommenGlng that the Beazley Foundation Academy be relieved of the charge for a standby charge <br /> <br /> Sep%ember l, 1957.
