<br />The following letter from the Pla/ming Commission, deferred from last meeting, was taken
<br />
<br />:"The Plan~ing Commission has received a request from ~Construction Associates, Inc.,
<br />for the vacation of certain streets in the Westhaven Park Plat. A copy of ~the
<br />request and a map are attached hereto.
<br /> Pursuant to action taken at a special meeting held on August 6th, 1956, the
<br />Planning Commission recommends that the following streets be vacated:
<br />
<br />Vermont Ave. betweea South St. and US 17A by-pass;
<br />Hart Et. between US 17A by--pass and Hamilton Ave.;
<br />Hart St. east of Hamilton Ave. to the rear line of
<br /> property fronting on t~e northwest side of ~t.
<br /> Vernon Ave.;
<br />Clifford St. between OS 17A by-pass and Hamilton Ave.
<br />
<br /> The Planning Commission reoommends that that portion of Clifford St. east of
<br />Hamilton Ave. to the rear line of property on the,northwest side of Mt. Vernon
<br />Ave. be retained by the City. This will make possible a better intersection con-

<br />Vermont Ave. and obtaining a right of way along-the south side of South St. was adopted.

<br /> 56-245 - Bill of J.C. Davidson for turkeys killed by stray dogs - 33 lbs. at 40 cts. per lb.-

<br /> ~otion of Mr. Howard that the City Treasurer bo-authorized to pay said bill from funds
<br />in her hands from collection of Dog Taxes, was adopted.
<br />
<br /> 56-246 -- Motion of Mr. Howard that a proper resolution be dream and sent to Government officials
<br />responsible for the construction of a new Federal Bu~diflg in Portsmouthy expressing Portsmouth's interests in
<br />this matter, and that the City Manager request the Civic Clubs and the Chamber .of Commerce to send resolutions,
<br />and if necessary, that a committee be sent to Washington to assure ~the cons~traction of this building in Ports-
<br />mouth, with office~ for the Coast Guard, was adopted.
