<br /> With reference to peddlers m~d canvassers we find that:

<br /> TS peddlers' licenses have been issued
<br /> $ special licenses to peddle fish were issued
<br />
<br /> 11 permits granted to f~rmers who produce the items offered for sale.
<br /> There hsve been 236 inspections of peddlers for licenses, several having been mad~
<br />on Saturdays and Sundays. In addition to inspection of licenses, o~ inspecters also inspect scales and measuring
<br />
<br /> We find that, in most cases, canvassers are taking orders to be :delivered at a
<br />later date said are exempt fr~m the license tax under the Federal law. There is another group of peeple who sell
<br />wholesale to licensed merchants for retail, who are exempt under State law from purchasing local licenses.
<br /> The Police are diligent in their enforcement of the peddlers' and canvassers'
<br />ordinance."

<br /> Notion of Mr. Kirby that an ordinance be placed on fi rst reading amending the License Tax
<br />Ordinance by increasing the penalty for the purchase of automobile licenses afte~ due date from five per cent to
<br />ten per cent, and that it be increased on increments of ten per cent per month.
<br />
<br /> Motion of Mr. Baker that the motion be amended to read that the City Attorney be requested~
<br />to prepare and submit an ordinance cove~ing this matter at the next regular meeting, was adopted.
