Overton, representing George C. Small, spoke and presented the following <br /> <br />"We, the undersigned, do hereby agree, after rezoning, that George C.Small, <br />1226 Lind~ay Ave., Portsmouth, will be able to run his place of business, <br /> now operating as a fish market and later after rezoning of running a beauty <br />salon or barber shop. We, the undersigned, have no objection of the businesses <br />mentioned above; the address of said business is located at 1242 Center Ave., <br /> Portsmouth, Va. <br /> Signed - Jeremiah Britt, 1239 Center Ave. and others." <br /> <br /> Motion of ~. Weiseman To refer the application of George C. Small to the City <br />Manager for further investigation and repor~ to the Council at its next meeting, was adopted. <br /> <br /> 57-22 - "I reco~mlend an appropriation in the sum of ~200,000.00 from the Utility <br />Tax Fund be placed on first reading, for the construction of Ann St. School and an appropriation in the sum of <br />$100,000.00 from Utility Tax'funds for the construction of Prentis Park School." <br /> <br /> Notion of Mr. Hinton to place an appropriation of $~00,000.00 from Utility Tax Fund <br />for said purpose, on first reading, was adopted. <br /> <br /> 57-23 - "I recommend that .thesum of $5,000.00 he placed on first reading for the <br />purpose of purchasing parking meters that were authorized at a recent meeting of Council. There are a total of <br />llS meters authorized. We have on hand fifty meters and we carry a few additional meters in stock to replace <br />broken or damaged meters. We are placing an order for seventy five meters for which the appropriation will be <br />used to purchase the meters. <br /> <br />Motion of Mr. Kirby to place an appropriation of $5,000.00 for said purpose on first <br /> <br />reading, was adopted. <br /> <br /> 57-24 - "It is in order that you consider the request from EB. Kline to be heard <br /> at this time concerning thelicenses on peddlers. You hav~ a copy of Mr. Kline's letter concerning this matter <br />~fore you." <br /> <br /> <br />
