Ism also attaching an estimate-of the cost of the construction'of the walks prepared <br />hy the office of the Director of Public ~orks, the tobal of which i~$6,459.08, 50% of:which under our presenz <br />policy of constructing sidewalks would be paid by the City of Portsmouth in~e amount of $3,229.54. <br /> Of the above amount the ahuttin~ property owners have signed an agreement <br />to pay 50% of the cos~ in fron~ of their property ~n the sum, of $1,479.O6 , leaving mn amount of $1,750.48 to be <br />assessed against the abutting property owner h~ ordinance ~s'~rovide~ for by the City Charter ~nd Code. <br /> I recommend that the City proceed immediately to construct the wal~s. The <br />City has approximately a $3,000.00 balance in ~idewalk ~onstrudtion fundslfor the curren~ year's operation. It <br />will therefore not requi~e an additional appropriation at this time for~this work." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Kirby to concur in the recommendation of the City Manager and refer <br />this matter to the City Attorney ~o take the necessary s~eps, to complete the. program, was adopted. <br /> <br /> 57-122 - "I am reporting that the City of Portsmouth owns a generator capable of <br />furnishing electric energy in case of a Blackout am Pelice and Fire Headquarters and I have instructed t~e proper <br />city department to arrauge for the installation of the generator." <br /> <br />On motion filed. <br /> <br /> 57-12~ - "I recommend that the attached a~endment to the City Code be placed on <br />first reading.
