97-232- Non-Agenda Speakers <br /> <br />Sandy Jonson, 406 Westmoreland Avenue, spoke in opposition of the closing <br />of Portside. <br /> <br />Sheila A. Senters, 20 Century Drive, spoke in opposition to the removal of her <br />basketball goal <br /> <br />Tommy Miller, 53 LOxley Road, requested lights and a telephone at the <br />Simonsdale basketball court. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Robinett, and seconded by Mr. Pitts, to have the management <br />team provide a report to City Council on Mr. Miller's request by September 23, 1997, <br />and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />4. Debra L. Miller, 53 Loxley Road, requested lights and a telephone at the <br /> Simonsdale basketball court. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Robinett, and seconded by Mr. Benn, to change t~he rules of <br />order to allow Mr. Brannock an additional five minutes to speak, and was not adopted <br />due to a tie vote, 3-3 (Clemons, Griffin, Pitts) <br /> <br />David Brannock, 6 Crawford Parkway, spoke in opposition to the closing of <br />Portside. <br /> <br />6. Paul Robert, 45 Wayland Drive, spoke in opposition to the closing of Portside. <br /> <br />Janeen Rose, 716 Lanier Crescent, spoke in opposition to the closing of <br />Portside. <br /> <br />Jim Posey, 2428 Sunset Drive, Chesapeake, spoke in opposition to the closing <br />of Portside. <br /> <br />Thomas W. Sturgis, 3301 Scott Street, spoke in opposition to the closing of <br />Portside. <br /> <br />10. Randy Kuhlmann, 712 Potomac Avenue, spoke on.the street condition of the <br /> 700 block of Potomac Avenue. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. Robinett, requesting the city <br />management team provide an update on the condition of the 700 block of Potomac <br />Avenue and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />11. Doris Leitner, 215 Glasgow Street, spoke in opposition to Portside remaining <br /> open. <br /> <br />12. Frank K. Thomson, Ill, 9 Aylwin Road deferred comments on the request for <br /> lights and phone at Simonsdale basketball court until September 23, 1997. <br /> <br />On motion meeting adjourned at 9:26 p.m. <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br /> Dr. James W.
