"I have been directed by the School Board to sub~it ~t0 you the school budget for the year
1957-58, adopted at its'meeting on Friday, April 12, 1957~ and to request from yourhonorable body an appropria-
tion of $1,532,090.00. This'represents an increase of $252,104,00 over the 1956-57 Budget.
This budget increase is due to an increase in enrollment, decrease in Federal funds, oper.
atien of the new S H'Clarke Junio~ High School, and the necessity of increasing our salary schedule to approxi~at~
that of the surrounding areas.
Estimated Federal funds and balance are shown as a single item because at this time we do
not know what part of our Federal entitlement under P.L. 874 for 1956-? will be paid during the presen~ fiscal
year and what part Will not be paid until the 1957~8 fiscai~year.~
