<br />At a regular meeting of the City Council, held on June 25th, 1957, there were present:
<br />
<br />A.C. Bartlett, B. W. Baker, W. E. Hinton, Frank L. Kirby, John E. Scott,
<br />R. Irvine Smith, H, Earl Weiseman, I.G. vass, City Manager, and R.C.Harclay,
<br />City Attorney.
<br />
<br />The meeting was opened with prayer by Rev. Vache~
<br />
<br />Minutes of regu%ar meetings of June 12t~ and June 18th, 1957, were read and approved.
<br />57-217 - "The Council, acting as a~Com~i~tee of theWhole, recommends as follows:

<br /> Beginning on Water St. and proceed%ng westward on High St.:
<br /> Eastbound traffic on High St. 0 turn left on Water St.
<br />
<br /> East and Westbound traffic on High St. - turn left on Crawford
<br />
<br /> East bound traffic on High St. - turn left on Middle St.
<br />
<br /> No left turns off High St. at Court St.
<br />
<br /> West hound traffic o~ High St., turn left on Dinwiddie St.
<br />
<br /> No left turns off High St. at Washington St.
<br />
<br /> East hound ~raffic on High St. - turn left at Green St.
<br />
<br /> East and west bound traffic on High St, - turn left at Effingham St.
<br />
<br /> West bound traffic ~on High St. - turn left at Chestnut St.
<br />
<br /> East and west bound traffic on High St. - turn left at Armstrong St., except
<br /> between the hours of 4 and 6 P.M., Monday through Friday
<br />
<br /> East and west bound traffic on High St. at 6odwin St. - turn left except
<br /> between the hours of 4 and 6 P M., Monday though Friday
<br />
<br /> East and west bound traffic on High St. at First Ave. - left turns.
<br />
<br /> West bound traffic on High St. at Second Ave. - left turns
<br />
<br /> East bound traffic on High St. at Second Ave. - no left turn. (If it is found
<br /> desirable, a traffic officer will be assigned to this intersection at times
<br /> the Stadium is in use at night to permit left turns for east bound traffic,
<br />
<br /> East and west bound traffic on High St. at Fourth Ave. - left turns except
<br /> between the hours of 4 and 6 P.M., Monday through Fu3iday.

<br /> East and west bound traffic on ]tigh St. at Fifth Ave. - left turns except
<br /> east bound traffic between 4 and 6 P.M. Monday through Friday.
<br />
<br /> East and west bound traffic on High St. at Seventh Ave. - left turns excep~
<br /> east bound trafiic be.~ween 4 and~6 P.M. Monday through Friday.

<br /> West bound traffic on High St. at Ninth Ave. - left turn.
<br />
<br /> East and west bound traffic on High St. at Mt. Vernon Ave. - left turns.

<br /> East and west bound traffic on High St, at Hamilton AYe. will be controlled
<br /> hy traffic signals in accordance with the Wilbur Smith report."

<br />Motion of Mr. Scott to concur in the recommendation of~ the Com~hittee,was adopted
<br />
<br /> The City Manager recommended that east bound and west bound traffic on High St.
<br />turn left aI Elm Ave., except east bound traffic shall not ~urn left between the hours of 4 and 6 P.M., Monday
<br />through Friday.
<br />
<br /> Motion of Mr. Smith no~ to concur in the recommendation of the City Manager was
<br />lost and by the following vote:

<br />Nays: Bartlett, Hinton, Kirby, Scott

<br />adopted and by the follpwing vote:

<br />Motion of Mr. Scott to concur in the recommendation of the City Manager was

<br /> The City Manager recommended that eastbound and wesz bound traffic on High St.
<br />at Sixth Ave. make left turns except east bound traffic between 4 and 6 P.M., Monday through Friday.
