Weiseman that the reques~ be granted and that November llth, 1957 be <br />declared a legal holiday, was adopted.- <br /> <br />57-36t - The following petition was read: <br /> <br /> "We, the undersigned residents of Westhaven, would like to ask the Portsmouth Tran- <br />sit Company to restore Westhaven Bus service back to the schedule it maintained before this trial period, which <br />is now in existence3 The bus service, as it now stands~ is working a hardship on the people of Westhaven who de- <br />pend on the bus to get ro and from town. <br /> (Signed) Mrs. L. Whittaker, 3817 Col~lhia St. <br /> and numerous others." <br /> <br />On motion filed. <br /> <br /> 57-362 - Motion of Mr. Hinton that the City Manager be instructed to stop the <br />dumping of trash on the Truxton Dump by November 1st, 1957 and that this dump be limed over and any health menace <br />be removed, was adopted. <br /> <br /> 57-363 - Motion of Mr, Baker that the City Manager investigate the feasibility of <br />raising the sides of the dump bodies to increase the capacity of the trash and garbage-trucks, was adopted. <br /> <br /> 57-364 - Motion of Mr. Kirby that the Planning Commission be requested to submit a <br />second priority to be considered for urban renewal funds and this priority be broken down into sub-priorities <br />that the Council may consider the same, was adopted. <br /> <br /> 57-365 - Motion of Mr. Smith to refer ~o the City Manager for study and report, <br />t~e question of allowing left-hand-turns for east-hound traffic either at Sixth Ave. and High St., or Second Ave. <br />and First Ave. and High St., was adopted". <br /> <br /> 57-366 - Motion of Mr. Kirby To go into the election of a member of the Portsmouth <br />Port Commission for a five year term was adopted. <br /> <br />Mr, Kirby nominated Eucli~ M, Hanbury; <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Weiseman that nominations be closed and that Mr. Hanbury be unani- <br />mously elected, was adopted. <br /> <br /> 57-367 - <br />nesday, October 9th, be a closed conference, was adopted. <br /> Mr. Smith voting 'No' <br /> <br />motion adjourned. <br /> <br />President. <br /> <br />Motion of Mr. Scott that the conference with Col.Copeland be held on Wed- <br /> <br /> <br />
