SePtember 9, 1997;~; <br /> <br /> At a Called Meeting of the City Council on TueSday, September 9, 1997, <br />there were present: <br /> <br /> Mayor James W. Holley III, Vice Mayor Johnny M. Clemons, Bernard D. <br />Griffin, Sr., James T. Martin, Cameron C. Pitts, *P. Ward Robinett, Jr., J. <br />Thomas Benn III, City Manager Ronald W. Massie, City Attorney G. Timothy <br />Oksman. <br /> <br />97-244 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City <br />Manager's Conference Room, 6th floor of City Hall, 801 Crawford Street, at 5:00 <br />p.m., Tuesday, September 9, 1997, for the purpose of a public work session. <br /> <br />In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an Executive Session. <br /> <br />By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br />97-245 -The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: <br /> <br />1. Airline Boulevard Corridor <br /> <br />2. West Norfolk Road Widening <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Martin, and seconded by Mr. Pitts, to go into Executive <br />Session pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia for <br />the following: <br /> <br />(1) Discussion of appointments by Council to committees, boards, or <br /> commissions, as permitted by Subsection (A)(I). <br /> <br />(2) <br /> <br />Discussion of condition, acquisition or use of real property for a <br />public purpose, or the disposition of publicly held property, as <br />permitted by Subsection (A)(3). <br /> <br />(3) <br /> <br />Discussion of a prospective business or industry or expansion of an <br />existing business or industry where no previous announcement has <br />been of same in the community, as permitted by subsection (A)(5). <br /> <br />(4) Discussion of specific legal matters requiring the provision of legal <br /> advice by counsel, as permitted by subsection (A)(7). <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Martin, pursuant to Section <br />2.1-344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying that to the best of the Council <br />member's knowledge during the immediately preceding Executive Session of <br />the City Council: <br /> <br /> (1) Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting <br />requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and <br /> <br /> (2) Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion <br />by which the Executive Session was convened, were heard, discussed or <br />considered in the meeting by the City Council. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />On motion meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />APPROVED - <br /> <br /> Dr. James W.
