SePtember 9, 1997;~; At a Called Meeting of the City Council on TueSday, September 9, 1997, there were present: Mayor James W. Holley III, Vice Mayor Johnny M. Clemons, Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., James T. Martin, Cameron C. Pitts, *P. Ward Robinett, Jr., J. Thomas Benn III, City Manager Ronald W. Massie, City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman. 97-244 - The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Manager's Conference Room, 6th floor of City Hall, 801 Crawford Street, at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 9, 1997, for the purpose of a public work session. In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an Executive Session. By order of the Mayor." 97-245 -The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: 1. Airline Boulevard Corridor 2. West Norfolk Road Widening Motion by Mr. Martin, and seconded by Mr. Pitts, to go into Executive Session pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia for the following: (1) Discussion of appointments by Council to committees, boards, or commissions, as permitted by Subsection (A)(I). (2) Discussion of condition, acquisition or use of real property for a public purpose, or the disposition of publicly held property, as permitted by Subsection (A)(3). (3) Discussion of a prospective business or industry or expansion of an existing business or industry where no previous announcement has been of same in the community, as permitted by subsection (A)(5). (4) Discussion of specific legal matters requiring the provision of legal advice by counsel, as permitted by subsection (A)(7). The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. Motion of Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Martin, pursuant to Section 2.1-344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying that to the best of the Council member's knowledge during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: (1) Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and (2) Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the Executive Session was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council.
