Motion o£ Mr. Hinton to refer ~o the City Manager ~o confer eith the State Highway o~ficials, was adopted. Mo~io~ of Mr. Kirby ~hat ~the City Manager advise the Highway Department of the expense of the acquisition of the proposed route as it now stands, was adopted. 58-187 - The following letter 'from the Planning commission was read: 58-187 - "Forwarded herewith is a letter from John A. MacKenzie, ~representing the Portsmouth Lumber Corporation. This letter requests the closing of a portion of Van Buren StreeT. At a regular meeting on June 5, 1958, the Planning Commission, by unani- mous action, recommends to City COuncil that that portion o~ Van Buren St., which lies northeast of Cuthriell St., approximately 130 ieem in length, be closed."
